Transformers the animated movie (1986)
With the success of the toy, Hasbro decided to make a movie out of it too after 2 seasons of the cartoon series, and things about to get darker. I will sum up the plot of the movie, so it's a no-holds-bar spoiler.
Finally Cybertron has been fully conquered by the Decepticons, and valiant autobots not gonna sit back and wait. Hiding behind 2 "moons" of Cybertron, autobots are building up weapons and armies to prepare for assault, but the plan is screwed as Laserbeak successfully spied on what Optimus Prime has to plan. Megatron, lead the assault against the space shuttle sent by prime, which on its destination to earth to grab some energon. The first autbot to die is Brawn, follow by Prowl and then Ironhide and Ratchet. Megatron put an icing on the cake by blowing off Ironhide's head, when that poor sod still tried to twart Meg's plan by...holding on to his leg -_-".
Spike has a son now, his name is Daniel. Daniel is fishing with a new Autobot Character call Hot Rod. Daniel's GPS device spotted the hijacked shuttle and want to go see it, and Hot Rod follows him. However on the lookout mountain Daniel spotted a hole on the shuttle (duh) and HR does a vision scan, detect the decepticons and starts attacking. With their cover blow, the bad guys going all out to destroy autobot city, as for the first time, their numbers are greater.
Kup, autobot's old geezer, manages to save HR's ass from Bliztwing, suggest that both of them return to the city. Here we are introduced to others autobots : Arcee, Springer, Ultra Magnus, Blurr. Ultra Magnus order Perceptor to tell Blaster to radio prime, while others continue to defend the base. The war goes on over night but the city's defence are broken, along with other autobots' death like Windcharger and Wheeljack (TAK TAU SIAPA BUNUH DIA !!). Prime arrives, along with Dinobots, whom put up a pathetic fight against Devastator, so it's up to THE BOT to turn the tide.
Prime mops up the Decepticons and face to face against Megatron for the countless time, and boy, he does take damage with cracked armour everywhere. Prime overcomes Megatron and ready to finish him off, but that bastard HR interferes, as he saw Megatron tries to sneak a gun under the rubble. Megatron succeed in counter HR's attack, holds him as hostage and blast Optimus Prime into next week. Prime doesn't give up and knock Megatron off the cliff while Meg trying to make a new asshole on prime's head. The Decepticons retreat, but autobots suffer greatly as Optimus Prime dies for defending the city. He passes the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus, tells him that "an autobot shall rise among the rank, and use the power of the matrix, to light our darkest hour". Prime's death is a heart breaking moment for everyone, espacially kids during the 80s and early 90s, for he has become everyone's idol, while a father figure for some.
Treacherous Starscream throws Megatron into the space along with damaged Thundercracker, Skywarp and Insecticons, as it's his golden chance to back stab him. But Megatron is picked up by a monstrous planet-eater called Unicron, and reformats him into Galvatron, with a bargain of destroying the matrix. First of for Galvatron is to retake his position again, and damn well he does by baslting Starscream into dust.
While finishing it off Starscream, Unicron eats up the 2 moons which Jazz, Windcharger, Bumblebbe and Spike stays respectively. The four of them enter Unicron's belly, whether they are alive or not is still unknown. With Galvatron leading the Decepticons, they go straight to Earth and attack the remaining Autobots who are busying repairing the city. Autobots abandon the operation and escape to space with 2 shuttle, Ultra Magnus, Arcee, Springer and Daniel on the one while Hot Rod, Kup and Dinobots on the other. However their escape is short-lived, as Galvatron's new space shuttle shot Hot Rod's shuttle and crash into an unknown planet while Ultra Magnus managed to lose them by ejecting a dummy shuttle for Galvatron to destroy.
On the unknown planet, Hot Rod manages to reunited with Kup who got damaged by a giant robotic squid, and Hot Rod repairs him. But they encounter a group of jailers and get captured, without realising that there's an unknown autobot watching them.....In a chamber they witness a mock court organise by Quintession, who just execute anyone they caught by feeding them into sharkticons. In their cell they meet a robot called Kranix, who is the last survivor of whateverplanet he lives, and listen to his story about Unicron. But alas he got dragged away and fed to the sharkticons before he can finish.
On the other of the planet, Dinobot also looking for Hot Rod and Kup but they eventually meet up with the msyterious autobot called Wheelie (one creepy bastard) who lead the way to the Quintession court. Well, heroes don't die easily, Hot Rod and Kup twart their execution and manage to delay time untill Dinobots arrive to save them. Due the fear shown by dinobots, Sharkticons turn against their master, as the gang looking for another ship to find Ultra magnus and gang.
Ultra Magus' shuttle crash landed on a junkion planet, and Perceptor suggests they salavge any metal they can find here to repair it, but they don't know that they are being watched. Galvatron is pissed that Unicron doesn't satisfied with his "success" as he insists the Matrix is still alive, and manage to track them at the Junkion planet. After tracked them down and destroy their only shuttle, Ultra Magnus tells his comrades to run off while he tries to open the Matrix, but no avail. Galvatron kills him and obtains the matrix, however he wants to use it against Unicron.
The gang feel sad for the death of Ultra Magnus, but the problem is not over, as they are surrounded by junkion bot. They fend them off with all they got untill a msyterious ship show up, and turns out to be Hot Rod's gang. Hot Rod offer an energon to the leader of junkion as tokken of peace, and they accept it gratefully. Junkion bots manage to resurrect Ultra Magnus, whom explains the incident to Hot Rod, and junkion chips in about Unicron. So they set off to destroy Unicron and retrive the matrix.
Galvatron returns to Unicron with the matrix, and threatens him. Unicron shrugs it off and transform into a giant robot and continue to destroy Cybertron. Shockwave quickly order decepticons to counter Unicron's assault but no avail. Galvatron tried to retaliate but he got pick up and swallowed into Unicron's belly.
Hot Rod and gang arrive in cybertron, while the junkion and Dinobots fend of Unicron's assault, Hot Rod ram his hijacked spaceship into Unicron's eye and split up with his autobot gang. Hot Rod bumped into Galvatron and get straight into the fight to retrieve the Matrix. On the other side, Ultra Magnus, Springer, Arcee, Perceptor and Daniel continue the search for Daniel's father whose moon base got swallowed, but they got assault by some tentacle thingamajik. Daniel got trapped while they are trying to flee, which left no choice for others but to fend off the tentacle. Arcee shot the wall and water burst out, washing them away. Daniel got seperated with others and end up at a chamber which "cook" any robots alive. At the same time, he found his dad, Jazz, Cliffjumper and Bumblebee.
Some minor suspense here, as Daniel uses his exo-suit to blast the cover of the silo to prevent them from falling into the lava. Mean while back to Galvy and Hot Rod's fight, Galvy manages to overcome Hot Rod, but miracle happens when Hot Rod touches the Matrix that hung on Galvatron's turn, yank it out and reformat himself into Rodimus Prime. With new found strength he throws Galvatron out of Unicron's body....literally. Hot Rod continues to open the matrix to unleash the power that Unicron fears. During the destruction of Unicron, Rodimus manage to meet up with others and escape, finally Unicron explodes, and his head turns into a moon for Cybertron.
